Rotation template for insulin injection – child / abdomen & thighs
Insulin can be injected into various parts of the body. Your doctor will recommend the most suitable sites for you. You should always vary the injection site within the selected area. Otherwise, calluses and skin changes may develop, and it will become more difficult to predict the effect of the injected insulin on your blood sugar levels.
It is recommended that you change your injection sites daily within each injection area. Each new injection should be given a finger’s width away from the previous injection site.
Rotation templates are a tried-and-tested aid for choosing the next injection site. Templates are available for the abdomen and thighs (for children and adults respectively).
Print the template on A4 paper and cut out the areas within the numbered circles. For each injection, move on to the next number.
For the abdominal template, the U-shaped template should be placed around the navel (leaving a free area in the centre).
